Adam Zampa Becomes Second-Highest Wicket-Taker as Australia Dominates Oman
Adam Zampa emerged as one of the standout performers in T20 World Cup history, claiming four wickets as Australia national cricket team finished their campaign with a dominant nine-wicket victory over Oman national cricket team in Kandy. Zampa’s 4-21 not only secured a convincing win but also made him the second-highest wicket-taker in T20 World Cup history with 44 wickets, surpassing Rashid Khan.

Australia’s tournament was otherwise disappointing. Injuries to key pacers Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, combined with inconsistent batting, led to group-stage elimination. Captain Mitchell Marsh described the campaign as frustrating, missing early matches due to injury himself.

Against Oman, Australia’s bowling attack dominated, with Xavier Bartlett taking 2-27. Chasing 105, Marsh scored a scintillating 64 off 33 balls, supported by Travis Head’s 32, to finish the game in just over six overs.

While Zampa’s achievement will be remembered as a historic highlight, Australia must address key weaknesses in bowling depth, top-order consistency, and strategic selection ahead of future tournaments. The Oman win ends their campaign positively, but lessons from earlier setbacks will shape their preparation for upcoming international series.
