All OK Between Seniors And Coaches In Team India? Shubman Gill Breaks Silence

Shubman Gill is set to lead India in the ODI series against New Zealand, making his international comeback after a brief gap. This series is crucial as it is India's last ODI series before the focus shifts to T20Is. While Shubman is not part of the T20I squad, he is leading the ODI and Test teams. Under his captaincy, the spotlight has been on senior players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who continue to perform well in the 50-over format.
Amidst some chatter about the relationship between the senior players and the coaching staff led by Gautam Gambhir, Gill was asked directly about the atmosphere in the team during the pre-match press conference. He responded, “I think the team atmosphere is amazing. The players you named have been in this atmosphere for decades, and they always try to push Indian cricket forward. Even in the last series, you saw how well they performed. So I think the atmosphere in the team is great right now.”
When asked about how having Rohit and Virat in the squad makes his job easier as a captain, Gill emphasized their invaluable experience. "Among the two players you have named, one is one of the greatest openers (Rohit) of all time in ODIs, and Virat bhai is one of the greatest ODI batsmen ever. So definitely, having these two people in your team makes your life a lot easier. Whenever you are in a challenging situation, you can go to them for input. They have often been in those situations, and you can see how they think or what they would do. That piece of information is very valuable for any captain," Gill said.
Gill also stressed the importance of playing at full strength, regardless of the opposition, saying, "We don't look at any opposition, since they aren't at their full strength. We want to play at full strength and find the best combinations."
