Bangladesh Name Squad For ICC Men's Under-19 World Cup 2026
Bangladesh has officially named its squad for the highly anticipated ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup 2026, setting the stage for a fierce campaign in the prestigious youth tournament. The team will be led by captain Azizul Hakim, with Zawad Abrar appointed as his deputy. The announcement was made following a period of rigorous selection, with Bangladesh opting to rely heavily on players who have consistently delivered strong performances over the past two years.

In a remarkable achievement, Bangladesh has participated in more Youth ODIs than any other team since the 2024 U19 World Cup. In 2025 alone, the team played 28 Youth ODI matches, winning 17, underlining their growing prowess in age-group cricket. With such experience behind them, Bangladesh will be looking to make a serious impact at the 2026 World Cup.

Bangladesh Squad for Under-19 World Cup 2026:

  • Azizul Hakim (captain)
  • Zawad Abrar (vice-captain)
  • Samiun Basir
  • Sheikh Paevez
  • Rizan Hossan
  • Shaharia Al Amin
  • Shadin Islam
  • Md Abdullah
  • Farid Hasan
  • Kalam Siddiki
  • Rifat Beg
  • Saad Islam
  • Al Fahad
  • Shahriar Ahmed
  • Iqbal Hossain

Key Players to Watch
Azizul Hakim and Zawad Abrar stand out as the most consistent performers in the squad. Both players have been instrumental since the 2024 World Cup, accumulating over 1,000 runs each. In 2025, Azizul scored 879 runs, including one century and five half-centuries, while Zawad accumulated 977 runs, with two hundreds and six fifties to his name.

Rizan Hossan, a dynamic all-rounder, is another player to keep an eye on. He has been in excellent form, scoring 830 runs in 2025, with seven fifties and one century, showcasing his ability to anchor innings.

On the bowling front, Bangladesh's squad boasts some impressive wicket-takers. Iqbal Hossain (34 wickets in 2025) and Al Fahad (33 wickets in 2025) are among the top performers, while left-arm spinner Samiun Basir also played a pivotal role with 29 wickets in 2025. Fahad, who missed the Under-19 Asia Cup in December, returns to the squad, replacing Md Sobuj, and will add an extra layer of experience to Bangladesh's bowling attack.

Tough Group Challenge
Bangladesh has been placed in a competitive Group B, where they will face tough challenges from India, New Zealand, and the USA. Only the top three teams from each group will advance to the Super Sixes, and from there, the competition will move into the semi-finals and final. With a squad full of proven match-winners, Bangladesh will be aiming to make it to the latter stages of the tournament and potentially challenge for the title.
