Hussain Talat was stretchered off the field and taken to hospital after suffering a serious shoulder injury during the second ODI between the Pakistan national cricket team and the Bangladesh national cricket team in Dhaka. The incident occurred while Talat was attempting to stop a boundary during Bangladesh’s run chase, forcing medical staff to rush onto the field.
The injury took place in the sixth over of Bangladesh’s innings. Bangladesh batter Litton Das had played a powerful shot through the offside off a delivery from Mohammad Wasim. Talat sprinted toward the cover boundary in an effort to prevent the ball from reaching the rope.
As he tried to pull the ball back into the field of play, Talat stepped on the boundary foam while making contact with the ball. The loss of balance caused him to tumble forward into the advertising boards surrounding the boundary. He landed heavily on his left shoulder, immediately showing signs of significant discomfort.
Concerned players and officials quickly gathered around the injured allrounder as the seriousness of the incident became clear. Medical staff from the Pakistan team rushed to provide immediate attention on the field before a stretcher was brought out to carry Talat off the ground. He was then transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.
In an official statement, the Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed that Talat had received initial medical treatment on the field before being taken to hospital for a detailed examination. The board added that doctors would determine the exact nature and severity of the injury after completing further medical assessments.
The dramatic moment briefly halted the match, which had already been interrupted shortly afterward due to severe weather conditions. Lightning strikes forced players from both teams to leave the field, and a sudden hailstorm delayed the game even further.
Despite the interruption, Pakistan had been in a strong position during the match. Earlier in the game, Pakistan posted a competitive total of 274 runs, thanks largely to a valuable half-century from opener Maaz Sadaqat. His steady innings provided the foundation for Pakistan’s total and put pressure on Bangladesh’s batting lineup.
Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi also made an early impact with the ball during Bangladesh’s chase. The fast bowler struck twice with the new ball, reducing the hosts to 27 for 3 in 6.3 overs before the weather disruption forced the players off the field.
The second ODI was particularly important for Pakistan as they attempted to level the series after Bangladesh had taken a 1–0 lead in the opening match. With the game already filled with dramatic moments, Talat’s injury added another concerning twist to the contest.
Pakistan team management and fans will now await the results of Talat’s medical examination, hoping the injury is not serious and that the allrounder can make a quick recovery. His availability for the remainder of the series could depend on the outcome of the medical evaluation and the severity of the shoulder damage.
