ICC Open To Moving Bangladesh's T20 World Cup Matches? Report Makes Big Claim
The International Cricket Council (ICC) might be open to relocating Bangladesh's T20 World Cup 2026 matches after a formal request from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). According to a report by Cricbuzz, Bangladesh's national team was originally scheduled to play all four of their league games in India—three in Kolkata and one in Mumbai. However, following heightened concerns regarding safety and security, the BCB has officially stated that their team will not travel to India for the tournament.

The decision comes after an emergency meeting of the BCB, where the board took into account recent developments and the growing uncertainty about the safety of their players in India. The BCB's statement emphasized the safety concerns voiced by the Bangladesh government, leading them to conclude that participating in the T20 World Cup in India under the current conditions was not feasible. As a result, the BCB has officially requested the ICC to consider shifting Bangladesh's group stage matches to Sri Lanka, a co-host of the tournament.

While the ICC has yet to make a formal decision, sources suggest that the global governing body is not opposed to the idea of moving Bangladesh's games to Sri Lanka, especially as they are already a co-host for the 2026 World Cup. The move is also seen as a way to ensure the safety and security of the Bangladeshi players, team officials, and other stakeholders.

Earlier, the BCB had released an official statement confirming their decision not to travel to India. The statement also detailed the board's concerns, acknowledging the advice from the Bangladesh Government to pull out of India under the present conditions.

As of now, the ICC is still reviewing the situation, and an official announcement regarding the venue changes is expected in the coming days
