Jofra Archer Is the Deadliest Weapon in Tonight's IPL Qualifier 2 and GT Know It

Archer Has Turned Into a Knockout Specialist
There are good bowlers in this IPL. There are great bowlers. And then there is Jofra Archer in knockout cricket. In the Eliminator against SRH on May 27, Archer took 3 wickets and repeatedly produced unplayable deliveries that combined genuine pace with sharp late movement. He removed key SRH batters at crucial stages and set the tone for a comfortable 47-run Rajasthan Royals victory. Tonight in Qualifier 2, Archer once again holds the biggest threat for any GT batter who comes to the crease.
Why GT's Top Order Has Never Looked Comfortable Against Pace
The Gujarat Titans have a structural weakness that smart bowling teams have learned to exploit this season. Their top-order batters, including Gill and Sudharsan, are technically correct and largely comfortable against spin and medium pace, but sustained high-quality pace bowling in the powerplay creates real problems. Against RCB's Jacob Duffy in Qualifier 1, the first two GT wickets fell to outswing at around 140kph. Archer bowls consistently at 145kph-plus with the ability to bring the ball back in sharply off the pitch. If he gets movement tonight at Mullanpur, the GT top order could once again look fragile.
Nandre Burger Gives RR a Lethal Second Pace Option
What makes Rajasthan's pace attack even more dangerous tonight is the presence of Nandre Burger alongside Archer. The South African left-arm seamer has been quietly outstanding throughout IPL 2026, taking wickets at regular intervals with a combination of fuller lengths, cutters, and clever use of the crease angle. Left-arm over the wicket to right-handed batters is always difficult, and against GT's right-hand-heavy top six, Burger provides RR captain Riyan Parag with enormous flexibility in how he deploys his attack around Archer's spells.
The Counter-Attack: Rashid Khan Has the Last Word
GT know they need to fight fire with fire tonight. And their biggest weapon in any tense knockout game is Rashid Khan. The Afghanistan leg-spinner is one of the greatest T20 bowlers of all time and has the ability to completely change a match in a single over. If RR's middle order fails to play Rashid carefully, the game can turn in an instant. The head-to-head tonight between Rashid and Sooryavanshi, should it materialize, will be one of the most mouth-watering individual battles in IPL playoff history.
