Mukul Choudhary Stuns KKR: LSG Teen Rewrites Eden Thriller
10 Apr 2026, 4:23 pm

Mukul Choudhary rewrote the Eden Gardens script on April 9 as Lucknow Super Giants completed one of IPL 2026's most dramatic chases, defeating Kolkata Knight Riders by three wickets on the final ball of the match.
LSG required 30 runs from 12 deliveries when Choudhary walked in at number eight. Most teams would have conceded defeat at that point, but the 21-year-old from Jhunjhunu had other ideas. He launched a ferocious assault on KKR's death bowlers, striking seven sixes and two fours in an unbeaten 54 off just 27 deliveries.
Choudhary Turns the Chase Upside Down
The assault began in Cameron Green's penultimate over. Back after weeks of injury-forced absence, Green was taken apart with two maximums and a driven boundary that changed the complexion of the contest entirely. KKR suddenly found themselves nervous despite needing only 14 from the final over.
Captain Ajinkya Rahane handed the last over to Vaibhav Arora. The pacer, KKR's standout bowler this season, bowled two scorching yorkers but could not find the execution needed on the fifth ball. Choudhary dispatched a near-perfect delivery over deep cover for six in what immediately became one of the shots of IPL 2026. Avesh Khan scrambled the winning single off the last ball as Angkrish Raghuvanshi's direct-hit attempt missed the stumps.
KKR's Death Bowling Crisis Exposed Again
The defeat painfully highlighted KKR's ongoing bowling vulnerabilities at the death. Without Harshit Rana and Matheesha Pathirana, Arora has carried an impossible workload. Green's return with the ball provides some relief but the Australian was expensive and unable to control the asking rate when it mattered most.
Earlier, KKR had batted well with Rahane (41) and Raghuvanshi (45) sharing a fluent 84-run second-wicket stand. Rovman Powell and Green then provided late acceleration to post 181 for 4, a total that looked competitive throughout. Ayush Badoni's 54 from 34 balls kept LSG alive before Choudhary's explosion sealed a famous win.
LSG move fifth in IPL 2026 with two wins from three matches. KKR remain ninth and winless, their playoff chances fading with every passing game at their home fortress.
