Nikhil Chaudhary Set For Historic Australia Debut
Australia have included Delhi-born uncapped spinner Nikhil Chaudhary in their squad for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh following Travis Head's withdrawal on personal leave.
Historic Opportunity Awaits
If selected in the playing XI, Chaudhary will become the first India-born cricketer to represent Australia since leg-spinner Rex Sellers in 1964. The 30-year-old all-rounder is expected to join the Australian squad in Dhaka ahead of the three-match series.
Journey From Delhi To Australia
Born in Delhi, Chaudhary previously played limited-overs cricket for Punjab alongside players such as Harbhajan Singh, Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma. He also trialled with Mumbai Indians before moving to Australia, where he continued pursuing his cricket career.
Impressive Domestic Performances
Chaudhary has impressed selectors with his performances in the Big Bash League for Hobart Hurricanes. He has also been involved with Delhi Capitals during the IPL and is currently playing in the EUT20 competition in Belgium.
Australia's Confidence In Chaudhary
Australia selectors believe Chaudhary has earned this opportunity through consistent performances. The three-match T20I series against Bangladesh begins on June 17 in Chattogram, with all matches scheduled at the same venue.
