Ravi Bishnoi Strongly Bounces Back With Sharper Bowling following IPL Backlash

A spectacular come back to form has been made by Ravi Bishnoi who proved that despite setbacks, hard work, discipline, and self-introspection can revive the career of a cricketer. After a poor IPL 2025, Bishnoi could not help Lucknow Super Giants record his presence as he made only nine wickets in 11 games and with an average of more than 44. His inability to maintain the right lengths and lines resulted in his underperformance and the franchise who did not have his usual threat of taking wickets ended up seventh in the standings and had no chance of making it to the playoffs.

Consequently, Bishnoi was sold at the IPL auction and fans and experts could not tell what lay ahead of him in high level T20 cricket. Nevertheless, he was getting a second chance in life when the Rajasthan Royals offered him a huge sum of Rs 7.20 crore. The transfer gave him not only a new franchise to represent but also one that could help him to restore confidence in him, sharpen his skills and demonstrate that he was one of the top wrist spinners in India.

Bishnoi himself has confessed that the struggle of the last season made him concentrate on the fundamentals. I trained a lot on my lengths since in the previous season I was not very much in control. Bowling always kept them in the 5-6 metre range off the stumps, so the batters have a hard time scoring, and that is what I focused on Premier leagues in Australia. The 25 year also looked back to domestics cricket in his comeback where he participated in tournaments such as the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali T20s, and Ranji Trophy wreaking havoc with key wickets and resuming his rhythm.

His hard work eventually paid off when he was called into the Indian T20 I team against New Zealand following the injury to the all rounder Washington Sundar. In the third T20I Bishnoi struck instantly, providing clean sheets of 2/18 and getting rid of the main batters Mark Chapman and Glenn Phillips, one after the other. His precision, timing, and mastery of his wrist rotation saw India hold New Zealand down to a small figure and then win the game and the series 8 wickets to none.

Bishnoi has limited chances of success with an already established spin line in India with the likes of Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, and Washington Sundar. But his character, versatility and increased bowling measurements have earned him a formidable threat of the T20 World Cup 2026 and this is one of the examples that despite the failure, intelligent planning and will power can rekindle a good career. 

This comeback story of Bishnoi is now being celebrated as one of the most inspiring stories in the current Indian cricket as he openly remarked that his lengths and lines were not such as last season and this made it difficult to trouble the batters. The last-year work I have done was on my lengths. I could not control my lengths and my lines much in the last season. That is why it was difficult, he confessed. Months of his life was spent in Jodhpur perfecting his wrist spin, and he concentrated on throwing in the 5-6 metres range, in front of the stamps, and this distance is such that batters find it hard to score readily.

Bishnoi was not made part of the Indian T20I team to play against New Zealand but a side strain to an all-rounder Washington Sundar created an infrequent opportunity. In the third T20I Bishnoi brilliantly took the figures of 2/18, having sent the dangerous batters Mark Chapman 32 and Glenn Phillips 48 back to the dressing room in two consecutive overs. The accuracy of his lengths and the slightest changes of strides limited New Zealand to 153/9, and gave India the chance to pursuit the total in 10 overs, and win by eight wickets, and establish an unassailable 3-0 series lead.

Bishnoi attributed his home showings in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali T20s and Ranji Trophy to help him restore his faith. During the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he scored nine wickets out of seven games and that is a testimony of his adapting and upgrading abilities. 

Having already acquired a proven spin line, featuring Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, and Washington Sundar, Bishnoi will add the accuracy and advancement of spin on the wrist to the arsenal of the team in 2026, the T20 world cup. His performance in return is a product of hard work, perseverance, and intelligent bowling practice, which only strengthens his status as one of the young spin icons in India.
