U19 World Cup 2026 - Major Century Powers India U19 Win

Unbeaten century by Vihaan Malhotra, and good half-centuries by Abhigyan Kundu and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi saw India U19 decisively beat Zimbabwe U19 by 204 runs in the Super Six group of the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026 in Bulawayo, as reported by 8jjcricket. India U19, posting a massive 352 for 8, batted first and immediately put Zimbabwe under pressure. In response, the Zimbabwe U19 team was reduced to 148 runs without even 12 overs elapsed.

The innings for India began positively as openers Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Aaron George scored 44 runs in the first four overs. George was dismissed early, but Sooryavanshi maintained momentum and formed a quick 56-run partnership with captain Ayush Mhatre. Sooryavanshi reached his half-century in just 24 balls, making it the joint-second fastest fifty of the tournament.

Zimbabwe’s brief fightback was ended by left-arm pacer Tatenda Chimugoro, who removed both set batters in quick succession. Malhotra and Vedant Trivedi then stabilized the innings before Chimugoro took his third wicket. The turning point came when Abhigyan Kundu joined Malhotra; the duo added a crucial 113-run partnership, effectively taking the game away from Zimbabwe. Kundu scored a fluent 61 off 62 balls, hitting five fours and one six, while Malhotra crossed fifty for the first time in the tournament.

Late cameos from RS Ambrish and Khilan Patel kept India’s scoring rate high. Malhotra brought up his century in the penultimate over, and Khilan finished strongly with two consecutive sixes, taking India past the 350-run mark.

Zimbabwe’s chase never gained traction. RS Ambrish struck early, dismissing Nathaniel Hlabangana and claiming another wicket. Udhav Mohan and captain Ayush Mhatre then dominated the middle order as Zimbabwe lost six wickets for just six runs.

Leeroy Chiwaula resisted with a well-made 50, but his dismissal signaled the end of the fight. Mhatre and Mohan cleaned up the tail to ensure a comprehensive victory for India U19 in the U19 World Cup 2026
