Vaibhav Sooryavanshi: Teen Sensation Smashes Fastest 100 T20 Sixes Record

A Record Broken Off Ball One
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi does not need a warm-up delivery. When Rajasthan Royals chased Gujarat Titans' total in Jaipur on May 9, the 15-year-old stepped in and launched Mohammed Siraj over long on off the very first ball he faced. That six was his 100th in T20 cricket, making him the fastest player in history to reach the landmark. He got there in just 515 balls, shattering the previous record of 813 held by Karanbir Singh. Kieron Pollard, one of the most feared hitters the game has seen, took 843 balls to get there.
A Season Full Of Jaw-Dropping Moments
This has been that kind of IPL for Sooryavanshi. His century against Sunrisers Hyderabad off 37 balls featured 12 sixes and broke the record for most maximums in an IPL innings by an Indian player. He also set the record for most sixes in the powerplay across a single IPL season, going past Abhishek Sharma's tally from 2024 with 30 maximums inside the first six overs alone.
The Numbers That Tell The Story
Going into Sunday's game against Delhi Capitals, Sooryavanshi has scored 440 runs from 11 innings at a strike rate of 237. He is Rajasthan's top scorer this season and has hit 40 sixes, more than any other batter in IPL 2026. His average of 40 alongside that strike rate tells you he is not just swinging wildly. He is reading bowling attacks with a clarity that batters a decade older than him struggle to match.
What Comes Next
Tonight in Delhi he faces Mitchell Starc in what promises to be the most watched individual battle of the day. DC's assistant coach Ian Bell has already called Sooryavanshi the prize wicket in RR's lineup. Getting him early is one thing. Actually doing it is another challenge entirely.
