Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pace bowling all-rounder Pooja Vastrakar has been ruled out of action for two weeks due to a hamstring injury, confirmed by RCB head coach Malolan Rangarajan following the opening game against Mumbai Indians. The injury comes shortly after the team’s opening victory in WPL 2026.

Malolan Rangarajan stated, "Pooja Vastrakar was not available for selection against Mumbai Indians. Two weeks prior to her release from the CoE in Bengaluru, she tweaked her hamstring. We expect her to be out for another two weeks. It is a week-by-week process, and her recovery will determine her return." Pooja Vastrakar had previously been recovering from a shoulder issue at the Centre of Excellence.

RCB began their WPL 2026 journey with a thrilling last-ball win against Mumbai Indians, thanks to Nadine de Klerk’s unbeaten 63 off 44 balls, guiding the team to a 3-wicket victory. Despite the win, Pooja Vastrakar’s absence creates a gap in the team’s pace bowling and all-round options for upcoming matches.

Mumbai Indians also faced injury concerns, with all-rounder Hayley Matthews missing the opening game due to a shoulder strain. Head coach Lisa Keightley noted that Matthews is close to fitness but was deemed unfit to play, highlighting the ongoing challenge of player availability in WPL 2026.

Following their opening match, RCB will face Delhi Capitals at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The team will aim to maintain momentum in WPL 2026 while monitoring Pooja Vastrakar’s recovery.
