Virat Kohli Surpasses Another Tendulkar Record on Historic Run-Fest Day

The Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025/26 produced one of the most extraordinary days in List-A cricket history, featuring record-breaking centuries, massive team totals, and unforgettable performances from both legends and young prodigies.

Virat Kohli Continues to Rewrite Records

Virat Kohli reached a historic milestone, becoming the fastest batter to 16,000 List-A runs, achieving the feat in just 330 innings, well ahead of Sachin Tendulkar’s 391 innings. Kohli also moved to second place in all-time List-A centuries, scoring his 58th hundred and trailing only Tendulkar’s 60. His 131-run knock powered Delhi to a comfortable victory over Andhra in Bengaluru. Among players with over 10,000 List-A runs, Kohli boasts one of the best averages, second only to Michael Bevan.

Rohit Sharma Joins the Party

Rohit Sharma starred with a 155-run innings against Sikkim in Jaipur, marking his 37th List-A century and his ninth 150+ score, equalling David Warner for the most 150+ innings in List-A history.

Bihar Sets Record Team Total

Bihar made headlines by posting 574/6 against Arunachal Pradesh in Ranchi, the highest team total ever in List-A cricket. Highlights of the innings included:

  • Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the youngest centurion in List-A history at 14 years and 272 days

  • Sakibul Gani, who scored a blistering century in just 32 balls, the fastest by an Indian in List-A cricket

Other records from the innings:

  • 38 sixes, the most ever in a single List-A innings

  • Second-largest victory margin in List-A history (397 runs)

Lightning-Fast Centuries

Several players joined the record books with astonishingly quick hundreds:

  • Sakibul Gani – 32 balls

  • Ishan Kishan – 33 balls

  • Vaibhav Suryavanshi – 36 balls

Remarkably, three of the four fastest Indian List-A hundreds were scored on the same day, highlighting extraordinary batting conditions.

Historic Run Chases

The excitement continued with remarkable chases:

  • Karnataka successfully chased 413 runs against Jharkhand in Ahmedabad, led by Devdutt Padikkal’s 147, marking only the second successful 400+ chase in List-A history.

  • Soon after, Bengal chased 383 against Vidarbha, recording one of the highest successful run chases in India.

A Day That Redefined List-A Cricket

From Kohli’s record-breaking consistency to young prodigies announcing themselves on the big stage, the Vijay Hazare Trophy delivered a day that redefined what was possible in List-A cricket. With runs flowing freely and records tumbling across grounds, the 2025/26 season is already being hailed as one of the most memorable editions in the tournament’s history.
